Zynna's Place

If you are a homeless woman and live in the Hampton Roads Area, Zynna's Place is here to help.  For immediate assistance, please call our Program Director, Kymberli Alexander, between the hours of 9 - 4, Monday through Friday- at (757) 961 - 7681.  For after hours, please leave a message and the call will be returned to you the next business day.  

Zynna's Place is a home for women in transition who are battling with homelessness.  It is designed to provide a safe place for survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and recovery to gain independent living skills. Applicants to this program should be:

  • Homeless or at risk of becoming homeless
  • Either Employeed and/or working towards Employment
  • Abstaining from alcohol and illegal drugs
  • Mentally prepared, determined, and motivated to become self-sufficient

The following guidelines will give you a better idea of what to expect if your application is accepted and you decide to participate in Zynna's Place.

  • Residents are expected to either work at least 30 hours or be enrolled in a day support program designed to assist with employment, support groups, legal advocacy, and individual advocacy.  Our house manager will assist you with finding ways to assist you with achieving goals for future independence.
  • Residents are expected to work together by following their chore list to keep the yard and housing clean, safe, and in good condition.
  • Safety is always a top priority. Residents are expected to develop safety plans with the House Manager. 
  • Residents who are employed are required to pay $125 per week.
  • Residents who are unemployed are required to work with our House Manager to enroll in day support services designed to provide employment skills and/or resources.
  • Residents are required to follow a curfew which is 10:00 Sunday - Thursday and 11:00 Friday - Saturday.  EXCEPTIONS ARE MADE FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO CAN VERIFY AN EMPLOYMENT SCHEDULE THAT CONFLICTS WITH THIS ONE.  After 30 days, residents who remain in good standing are permitted to stay at  an away residence over night for 2 consecutive days during the weekends.
  • No overnight guests are allowed at Zynna's Place.
  • Verbal, physical, and emotional abuse are behaviors that Zynna's Place is working to eradicate. Residents are expected to refrain from these behaviors while they are participating in the program.
  • No weapons or illegal drugs are allowed in the housing at any time.
  • Failure to abide by the rules of the program or to comply with the terms of the lease may result in eviction.
